Alfonso (Poncho) Herrera was born in August 28th of 1983 in Monterrey, Mexico. He is a Mexican actor and singer known primarily for performances in Mexican telenovelas. He is also a member of the telenovela-derived music group RBD. As a kid, Alfonso, or Poncho as his friends call him, dreamed of becoming a pilot and wanted to move to San Antonio, Texas to enroll in an aviation school. He had also shown an interest in acting at an early age, and therefore he entered the Centro de Educación Artística run by Latin American media giant Televisa. Following this training, he worked in the theatre, including performances in Las Brujas de Salem (2001), Como matar a un ruise?or (2001) and Antigona (2001). In 2002, he was cast in the film Amar te duele, directed by Fernando Sari?ana, and from there moved into television, working in the telenovelas Clase 406 and Rebelde. Alfonso is a member of the band RBD, formed by actors from the telenovela Rebelde. He is widely regarded as a heartthrob on the show and in the band. Alfonso dated Dulce María, an actress in Rebelde and also a member of RBD. On July 13, 2006, Alfonso won the Esta Buenismo and El De Mejor Estilo awards during the Premios Juventud award show which aired on Univision. He also won awards at that show with his group RBD.
